Did you know...

The Fete de la Musique started in France in 1982 as an initiative of Ministry of Culture. It is celebrated every year on June 21st, the longest day of the year. It has now spread to over 100 countries in Europe and rest of the world.

Fete de la musique 1
The name is a play on words: "Faites de la musique/Fete de la musique" which translates as "Make music/ Feast of music". It is an open invitation to professional and amateur musicians alike to step out and perform in the streets, for free, and for everybody to enjoy. The event is a huge success, even the tiniest villages have high spirited performances. Larger cities have maps showing schedule and location for bands, and soloists.  All genres are represented from rock, and pop, and all the way to opera.  Of course prime spots are neighborhood squares where everybody can dance, and I do mean EVERYBODY!

Very Special Event

We would like to invite you to join us on Thursday July 15 between 6:30pm and 9:30pm. That evening is very special for three reasons.
  • We will be hosting Liliana Cirstea Glenn, lampworker extraordinaire. Liliana will be showing her exquisite wearable art/jewelry, samples of which can be previewed on her website LilianaBead.com. One lucky guest, whose name will be randomly drawn, will receive a gift of a pair of sterling silver earrings featuring some of Lilianas's hand-made glass beads.
  • David A. Lang and Virginia Fitzgerald will be hosting, on this same evening, a special showing of their work at David's studio located on the floor below our shop and accessible directly from our shop. They will be joined by Raffael de Gruttola, founder of the Boston Haiku Society, who will be creating Haiku about  the works in the studios.
